NuFi Web3 Wallet now supports Milkomeda C1 — a sidechain that lets projects build decentralized applications (Dapps) using Solidity (Ethereum’s smart contract language) and deploy on Cardano without any changes.
Milkomeda puts Cardano within reach of Ethereum’s developer community and gives non-EVM users access to a far richer range of Dapps. Once deployed on Milkomeda, Dapps (and users) can use permissionless bridges (run by smart contracts, not people) to move assets freely between Ethereum, Milkomeda C1 and Cardano.
Milkomeda C1 is NuFi’s 5th blockchain integration and was funded by Cardano’s Project Catalyst. Our proposal — Ethereum and Cardano Web3 Wallet, here — pledged to make migration from Ethereum to Cardano simpler and was the most voted-on proposal in Fund9. We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve been given by the Catalyst community and team.
With Milkomeda C1 integration, NuFi wallet users can now:
- Send and receive all assets that use Milkomeda C1 sidechain (and manage Milkomeda C1, Cardano, Ethereum, Flow & Solana assets together in one wallet)
- Connect to Milkomeda C1 Dapps (including those that don’t support NuFi thanks to MetaMask emulation mode)
- Bridge assets from Ethereum to Cardano (and back) using a single wallet
- Import and manage existing Milkomeda accounts by pairing a Ledger or Trezor hardware wallet, or by importing an existing wallet (like MetaMask) using a seed phrase
- Add custom ERC-20 tokens

What is Milkomeda and why does it matter?
Milkomeda (from dcSpark) is a groundbreaking protocol that brings EVM capabilities to non-EVM blockchains like Cardano. With Milkomeda, projects can build Dapps using Solidity (Ethereum’s smart contract language) and deploy them on non-EVM chains like Cardano without any significant changes. This empowers startups to build on non-EVM chains (increasing the variety of Dapps available) while tapping into the talent and resources of Ethereum’s smart contract community.
Milkomeda C1 — Cardano’s sidechain — launched in March 2022 and marked the moment that Ethereum’s battle-tested smart contracts were unlocked for Cardano. Since then, Milkomeda has actively fostered growth through incubators, accelerators, grants, hackathons and partnerships (read a review of 2022 here) and has big plans for 2023, including:
- Liquid staking (to earn Layer 1 staking rewards on ADA bridged to Milkomeda C1 sidechain)
- Wrapped smart contracts (to allow use of Layer 2 smart contracts without leaving the L1 chain)

Bridging assets between Ethereum, Milkomeda & Cardano (and how to get MilkADA)
Now NuFi wallet supports Cardano, Milkomeda C1 and Ethereum blockchains, it’s easy to move assets between chains using permissionless bridges. This means you don’t need a centralized exchange like Binance to swap ETH for ADA or vice versa.
Before you start, you’ll need to install NuFi wallet’s browser extension and create a wallet (or import your existing one, hardware wallets supported).
Next, disable your MetaMask/Flint wallet extensions (click Extensions icon > Manage extensions > Turn MetaMask/Flint off).
When you connect to Dapps, choose to connect with MetaMask/Flint and NuFi will open instead. This is thanks to Wallet Emulation mode which allows NuFi to connect in place of popular wallets on Cardano, Ethereum, Milkomeda C1 and Solana blockchains (as long as the other wallet extension is disabled).
To move assets between Cardano and Milkomeda C1 (and get MilkADA):
1. First disable MetaMask/Flint wallets (if you have them installed and turned on) then visit Blueshift bridge here.
2. Choose to connect with MetaMask/Flint and NuFi will open instead.
3. Connect your NuFi wallet’s Cardano and Milkomeda C1 accounts.
4. Bridge ADA from Cardano to Milkomeda C1, where it becomes MilkADA (the native asset used to pay gas fees). MilkADA bridged back to Cardano becomes ADA.
Please remember: You may need to import a Milkomeda token’s information before it displays in your NuFi wallet (though the most popular tokens are whitelisted and will appear in your wallet automatically). If a token isn’t auto-discovered, learn how to add it in the FAQs at the bottom here.
To move assets from Ethereum to Milkomeda C1:
1. First disable MetaMask wallet, then visit Celer’s cBridge here or Multichain bridge here.
2. Choose to connect with MetaMask and NuFi will open instead.
3. Connect your NuFi wallet’s Ethereum and Milkomeda C1 accounts.
4. Bridge assets between chains. Assets bridged to Milkomeda C1 can be swapped for MilkADA and other tokens using any of the DEXes below.
Please remember: after you bridge assets from Ethereum or Cardano to Milkomeda C1, you’ll need MilkADA to pay gas fees for every transaction (such as approving tokens, sending assets, making swaps, farming — the list is long) but if you can’t trade for MilkADA with the assets you bridged because you don’t have MilkADA to pay for the swap, then the simplest fix is to bridge ADA from Cardano to Milkomeda C1 to create MilkADA.
If that’s not possible because you don’t have any ADA, don’t despair: you can swap ETH (or 400+ other assets) for ADA directly in your NuFi wallet thanks to an integrated non-custodial Exchange that’ll deposit ADA in your account within 20 minutes. Learn more about that in the FAQs at the bottom here.
4 Milkomeda Dapps to get you started
Before you start, you’ll need to install NuFi wallet’s browser extension and create a wallet (or import your existing one).
Next, disable your MetaMask wallet extension as shown below (Extensions icon > Manage extensions > Turn MetaMask off).
When you connect to a Milkomeda C1 Dapp, choose to connect with MetaMask and NuFi will open instead thanks to Wallet Emulation mode. This feature allows NuFi wallet to connect in place of the most popular wallets on each chain, meaning NuFi is instantly ready to use with your favourite Dapps.
1) Blueshift.fi | A complete DeFi toolkit
Blueshift is your one-stop-shop for DeFi on Milkomeda C1. Diversify by investing in pre-made token portfolios (with themes like Multichain and Metaverse) and farm LP tokens to earn even more on top. You can also stake BLUES, the Dapp’s native token, for generous APRs and compounded rewards.
How to start
To start investing, you’ll need Milkomeda C1 tokens which you can trade for using Blueshift’s integrated DEX here. If you don’t have assets in your Milkomeda account, you can bridge assets from Ethereum or Cardano as shown above (here).
2 ) Volcaneers NFTs | Smart NFTs with Web3 gaming utility
Volcaneers are Milkomeda C1’s first Stateful NFTs — a “new class of NFTs where the value of your NFT will accrue based on the achievements, stats, and other in-game accolades that your NFT achieves,” according to developer Paima Studios.
These NFTs are used in Paima Studio’s Web3 game “Jungle Wars: NFT Rumble” (Milkomeda’s first Web3 game) and carry with them the owner’s evolving on-chain gaming record. “Stateful NFTs are the first to carry game state with them, and shift NFTs from being boring rock-like objects that never change, to being expressive evolving entities that can rival game characters.”
How to start
You can buy a Volcaneers NFT here for 10 MilkADA (around $2.40).
3 & 4) Muesliswap’s Milkomeda & OccamX | Put your ADA, Cardano tokens and stablecoins to work
While Blueshift’s focus is portfolio investing, Muesliswap’s Milkomeda and OccamX both let you earn rewards by providing liquidity in the form of ADA, Cardano tokens, wrapped assets (like BTC, ETH, FTM and AVAX) and stablecoins. You can then farm using LP tokens to earn extra yield. If you’re holding any of the above, it takes less than a minute to put your crypto to work and start earning rewards while you sleep.
How to start
To start, you’ll need Milkomeda C1 tokens which you can trade for using Muesliswap’s Milkomeda DEX here or OccamX’s DEX here. If you don’t have assets in your Milkomeda account, you can bridge assets from Ethereum or Cardano (here).
