NuFi: AMA Session #1–01.02.2022

This is the written transcript of our 1st NuFi AMA Session.
The below is taken from the AMA-Sessions channel of the NuFi Discord. No changes have been made, unless they were for clarity.

Welcome Nufians!, to our first Discord AMA session #1. We start in 5 mins. For now it will be text-only format. Session duration: 30 mins.
Feel free to text your question in our channel. We will block the possibility to ask questions in 30 mins time. Always feel free to raise conversation in our other channels here in Discord. If we won’t be able to answer all your questions in the course of the AMA session, we will do it later on.

Good Afternoon/Morning and Evening! Welcome to the 1st NuFi AMA!
Audience Question #1:
Is a dApp connector coming to NuFi? If so, when?
Answer — Developer Team Member:
Thank you for the first question. Initially, we were thinking that we will be able to integrate interesting dApps directly into our user interface. Unfortunately, we realised that this is really a lot of work to do for each dApp. We still would like to have some top dApps in our user interface but it will take some time. Currently, we are researching how to best embed NuFi into a browser extension and we are exploring how to best implement the dApp connector interface. If we decide that we really want to do it after the initial research, I expect we can deliver in 2–3 months. The research should be completed and the decision should be made in the following 2–3 weeks.
Audience Question #2:
I noticed that transactions are failing recently, do you know why this is occurring?
Answer — Developer Team Member:
I believe you are referring mainly to Cardano. Two undesired situations are currently happening when submitting a transaction — either the transaction fails immediately (and the user can try to resubmit) or the transaction does not execute immediately and is pending and the user gets a timeout error (tx will eventually be submitted but may take some time to appear in NuFi/block explorers). Both are caused mainly by ongoing network congestion. We recently tried to fix this by cooperating with Blockfrost and submitting transactions through their infrastructure. Anyways what can happen now is that it may take up to 60 minutes for a transaction to propagate to network after submission (our Transaction Time To Live time is set to 60 minutes so if it doesn't propagate within 60 minutes it will time out).

Thanks for the question! For your reference, here’s an article from our Troubleshooting section with our recommendations for when this problem occurs: transaction keeps failing and will not submit.
Audience Question #3:
Are there any plans to support Moonbeam and Moonriver in the future?
Answer — Developer Team Member:
We may explore this if there is a demand. I am not sure if this would make sense for us to integrate without Polkadot/Kusama support. Due to the nature of Polkadot and Kusama ecosystem, it would be very difficult to have support for multiple parachains (basically each Parachain can behave like a separate blockchain).

Thanks for the response. It would be great and also a browser extension would be awesome. MetaMask isn’t the greatest and an alternative where we can also stake and earn more easily would be a game changer.
Answer — Developer Team Member:
Yeah, the problem is our resources are limited and maintaining a browser extension with dApp connectors to multiple blockchains will be a difficult task. But most likely we will go that way and try to do a dApp connector for the most popular blockchains.
Audience Question #3:
What about AVAX C-Chain and Fantom support?
Answer — Developer Team Member:
Yes we are considering all the options. Once we integrate the first EVM based chain, we believe it should be easier for us to integrate also the others. We want to target mainly the audience that is interesting in staking on PoS blockchains, so we are considering the maturity of the PoS ecosystem when choosing the candidates for the integration.

Audience Question #4:
Are you looking at the possibility of hardware wallet support without having to put in your seed?
Answer — Developer Team Member:
As this was requested by the community, we are currently working on it hard. We already implemented the option to “forget” accounts which should be released very soon (so HW users can forget seed accounts). Next phase will be onboarding for HW users without the need to store the seed. ETA for complete functionality is 2nd half of February.

As a reference to a question we had last week — we are also implementing a “lazy” or “expert” mode where users can easily copy/paste the seed phrase during the onboarding.
